We’ve all seen the memes…
Let’s talk about how TV shows influence buyers!
In regards to home staging, a 2021 study by the NAR (National Association of Realtors) reported that:
63% of respondents said that buyers cited that homes should look like they were staged on TV shows.
68% of respondents said that buyers were disappointed by how homes looked compared to homes they saw on TV shows.
I’m glad to learn these percentages are only in the sixties… But this does mean most buyers expect staging to look more luxe, high-end, custom and lived in!
Staging expectations are not what they used to be:
Agents: How do TV shows impact your business?
71% of respondents said that TV shows which display the buying process impacted their business by setting unrealistic expectations or increased expectations.
61% of respondents said that TV shows set higher expectations of how homes should look, and 27% said that TV shows result in more educated home buyers and home sellers.
I’d love to hear from you!
Do you think TV shows create set unrealistic expectations or increased expectations for buyers?
